A "Basic" installation of the Motorola T280i Timeport hands free car phone kit in a 2002 model Volvo S60.
The handset cradle was mounted using it's own bracket and a "Clamshell" bracket screwed into to the left of the centre console fascia. The reason for the extra extension bracket is that, although the kits own bracket swivels through more than 90 degrees, you cannot access the right hand release button when mounted close to the console!
Sorry for the image quality on the T280i but it is so reflective being silver, on a sunny day it did weird things to our old digital camera!
The position of this cradle is roughly the same as that offered by the Dashmount console bracket, however, it does obstruct use of the pop out cup holder! A Brodit Proclip is the other option if you wish to retain use of the cup holder as this sits lower down than the Dashmount. This does depend however, on the cradle type fitted.
There is no mute facility at the rear of the stereo so we could not use this feature in this level of installation! There is an Autoleads Cellular Telemute Interface lead part number 06-043B available to route the audio through the cars own stereo system and an adaptor lead must be used with all non Nokia kits! The kits own speaker was screwed into the lower left hand console trim.
The microphone was mounted up by the interior light and the cable was neatly routed under the headlining.
A covert Tax Disc antenna was used to avoid any complications with the side and rear airbags fitted to this vehicle.
