This was a “Basic" Nokia CARK-91 handsfree car phone kit installation into a Vauxhall Astra 2002 model.
The handset cradle was screwed into the left hand side of the centre console fascia using the kits standard swivel mounting bracket. The cradle had to be mounted quite low down so that there was enough clearance to open the glove box. There are Dashmount and Brodit Proclip "No Holes" mounting options available but we find companies often try to save money installing the kit this way, especially on older vehicles. The kits own speaker was mounted on the left hand lower centre console fascia. The microphone was mounted centrally next to the centre light with the cable neatly routed beneath the headlining.
If the stereo in the vehicle is a 400 model or above it is fairly easy to utillise the radio mute facility, but if it is a 300 model, you cannot do this without a Telemute lead. You can purchase an Autoleads Cellular Telemute Interface lead to route the sound through the cars audio system and there are two lead types depending on whether the car is part pre wired for the phone or not.
A Panorama Glassmount antenna was fitted to the rear windscreen but you can also use a Tax disc type antenna as well.
