A "Premium" installation of the Nokia CARK-91 Hands Free car phone kit into a Saab 9-3 2001 model.
The handset cradle was mounted on a Dashmount console bracket. There is a SAAB OEM phone pod available to order from the dealers which is a small colour coded plastic Pod that sits lower down on the left hand side of the centre console or we can supply a custom made colour coded leather pod as well.
An Autoleads Cellular Telemute Interface lead was used to route the audio through the car stereo system. There are two types of lead available, later models which have an 18 way VDA connector use the same lead as Vauxhall. You can however mute the stereo without the use of an Autolead.
Although SAAB have a factory fitted microphone in the centre light panel, the resistance of it is too high for the Nokia kit and to avoid complications we always use the kits own one for warranty purposes and for best sound quality. The Nokia mic was mounted up by the interior light and the cable neatly routed under the headlining.
Most 2001 onwards SAAB 9-3 cars come with a factory fitted Tri-Band FM/GSM/GPS "Sharks Fin" body mount antenna at the rear of the roof, and the cable which has an FME connector as standard, is located under the left hand centre console panel beside the VDA connector. On cars that do not have the factory fitted antenna it is possible to use either a Panorama Glassmount antenna on the rear windscreen or a Tax disc antenna on the front.
