A "Premium" installation of the Sony Ericsson HCB-30 Bluetooth Hands Free car phone kit into a Saab 9-3 Sports Saloon 2003 model.

The Sony HCB-30 bluetooth remote control button was mounted at the customers request, slightly to the right of the climate control panel.

An Autoleads Cellular Telemute Interface lead the 06-109B was used to route the audio through the car stereo system, this has a built in transformer as direct input to the stereo can result in serious damage to the stereo, as the kit was a Sony Ericsson HCB-30 we also had to use an adaptor lead the 06-215B. The VDA connector is hidden under the left hand centre console panel. Phone volume can be adjusted via the remote steering wheel controls or from the stereo volume control button.

Although SAAB have a factory fitted microphone in the centre light panel, the resistance of it is too high for the Nokia kit and to avoid complications we always use the kits own one for warranty purposes and for best sound quality. The Nokia mic was mounted up by the interior light and the cable neatly routed under the headlining.

On this occasion the vehicle had to go to the Saab dealers afterwards to get the head unit updated with the latest version of software to improve audio quality during a call. This is not always required but something you should bear in mind when fitting any car kit to a Saab 9-3 Sports Saloon.

The above picture shows where we located the mic. We always use the mic that comes with the Sony car phone kit as the Saab one is very unreliable and often results in poor audio quality.
