An "Executive" installation of the Nokia CARK-91 Hands Free car phone kit into a Saab 9-3 Sports Saloon 2003 model.
The handset cradle was mounted on a Saab OEM colour coded plastic phone pod but this can also be mounted on a Dashmount console bracket. We can also supply a custom made colour coded leather pod.
An Autoleads Cellular Telemute Interface lead the 06-109B was used to route the audio through the car stereo system, this has a built in transformer as direct input to the stereo can result in serious damage to the stereo. The VDA connector is hidden under the left hand centre console panel. Phone volume can be adjusted via the remote steering wheel controls or from the stereo volume control button.
Although SAAB have a factory fitted microphone in the centre light panel, the resistance of it is too high for the Nokia kit and to avoid complications we always use the kits own one for warranty purposes and for best sound quality. The Nokia mic was mounted up by the interior light and the cable neatly routed under the headlining.
Most 2001 onwards SAAB 9-3 cars come with a factory fitted Tri-Band FM/GSM/GPS "Sharks Fin" body mount antenna at the rear of the roof, and the cable which has an FME connector as standard, is located under the left hand centre console panel beside the VDA connector. On cars that do not have the factory fitted antenna it is possible to use either a Panorama Glassmount antenna on the rear windscreen or a Tax disc antenna on the front.
