The keyless Renault Laguna II. This was a “Premium” installation of a Nokia CARK-91 handsfree car phone kit into a 2001 model car.
A Dashmount console bracket was used in this installation but there are also Brodit Proclip brackets available. You may notice that the card (key) part of the centre console has a slight gap, we found this was the best way to route the cable for a neater installation. Some companies route it via the gear lever boot but we find this more unsightly as you see more visible cable showing.
Due to the high metal content in the heat reflective glass used in the front windscreen, we had to fit a Panorama Glassmount antenna to the rear windscreen. Some later model (Phone Pack spec cars) come with a factory fitted "sharks fin" OEM body mounted Tri-Band FM/GSM/GPS antenna on the rear of the roof which we can use after changing the Renault connector for one of the male FME type.
To route the sound through the cars stereo system we used an Autoleads Cellular Telemute interface lead part number 06-090B .This lead is not suitable for Cabbasse Auditorium model head units fitted to later "Phone Spec" vehicles and cars with Sat Nav. These models typically have a part pre-wired phone interface lead under the centre console for which we use a 06-114B Telemute interface lead. With this lead you may also have to purchase a dual cone speaker from Renault as well, this is normally already fitted to Sat Nav models. Later 2003 and 2004 models have reverted back to the standard ISO format on the radio and a 06-050B lead can be used on these cars.
The microphone was mounted in a central position near the interior light and the cable routed neatly away beneath the headlining.
