A "Premium" installation of a Motorola T280i handsfree car phone kit into a Mercedes Benz C220 coupe W203 2002 model.
Apologies for the weird ghosting effect of the handset as it was very sunny when this picture was taken. The cradle was mounted on a Dashmount console bracket and the cable tucked between the centre console fascia and the dash.
An Autoleads Cellular Telemute Interface lead part number 06-059B and a Motorola adaptor 06-203B was used to mute the stereo and route the audio through the cars front two speakers. Motorola kits draw a constant one amp of power from the battery so it is essential that the ignition sense feature is utillised! As all new Mercedes do not have an ignition sense at the rear of the head unit the ignition sensing power was taken from the glove box light and fed into the Telemute lead.
The microphone was mounted near the interior light and the cable neatly routed under the headlining. A Panorama tax disc antenna was fitted to the inside of the front windscreen at the customers request but we would normally fit a glassmount, bodymount or bumper mount antenna to this vehicle. Mercedes GB do not like the use of covert screen mounted antennas so always check with your dealer to see if they would invalidate the warranty fitting one of these types of antennas. We have had no problems using tax disc antennas on Mercedes cars whatsoever.
