This is a “Basic” installation of a Nokia CARK-91 handsfree car phone kit into into a 2001 model Honda Civic .

This type of installation uses no additional parts apart from an external vehicle antenna and the Nokia CARK-91 kit. This is the budget option mostly used by company fleet vehicles. This type of installation will leave screw holes behind when the kit is eventually removed from the vehicle! The fascia layout on this car is very similar to that of the Citroen Picasso.

This vehicle has had wooden veneer added to it which is just stuck onto the original console. Whilst it was easy enough to suitably position the handset cradle, this vehicle does not lend itself to hiding cables due to the hard plastic nature of the console. This meant that the cable from the cradle had about 30 cm of visible cable showing!

A Panorama glassmount antenna was fitted to the rear screen and the microphone positioned centrally with the cable neatly routed away behind the head lining.

There are non damaging Dashmount and Brodit brackets available for this car to avoid making any screw holes in the fascia. You can also put the car audio through the front two speakers using an Autoleads Cellular Telemute interface lead, this mutes the stereo as well and saves having to screw in the kits own speaker, provided that the head unit is not an amplified BOSE one fitted to some of the higher spec cars.
