Common Ford radio telephone mute positions

You may wish to do a little bit more than just make your stereo mute during a Telephone call. With an Autoleads Cellular Telemute interface lead you can have the stereo mute during a call and display "PHONE" and it will automatically redirect the phones audio through the cars front two speakers. An additional adaptor may be required for some handsfree car phone kit types.

There are now 4 possible Cellular Telemute Interface leads for the Ford range of cars and stereo systems, the 06-061B for older cars with 5000, 6000 and un-amplified 7000 radio units. The 06-074B for newer cars with 5000, 6000 and 6006E radio units. The 06-085B for the 2002 onwards Fiesta and Fusion cars. For new 2004> Mondeo cars with the latest 6000 Ford, Sony or Visteon head units with the new 'Quadlok' connector on the rear you will require a 06-092B lead.

To remove the radio you will require removal keys that can also be purchased in our online shop and are the PC5-83 ones for older units and PC5-132 for 2004 onwards models (you will require 2 sets of PC5-132 radio removal keys!).

As you can see from the pictures below, in between the power and speaker plugs on non Quadlok models is a smaller plug which can have one or two rows of pins, sometimes yellow in colour, sometimes black, and the 3rd pin down on most new Ford Double Din head units is for the telephone mute (not Quadlok). Some newer stereos have these plugs mounted horizontally. The top pin above this mute is a white/green wire which is the vehicle speed pulse. On the units with horizontal plugs the small plug is on the other side of the stereo in between the aerial and the green CD plug but is still 3rd pin down or two below the speed pulse wire.
