This is a "Premium" Dell Axim PDA Satellite Navigation installation in a BMW 7 Series.
The customer supplied the Dell Axim PDA and Satellite Navigation package to which we added a Brodit PDA bracket which had to be modified for the Sat Nav connector. This was mounted on a colour coded leather phone pod and the GPS antenna was hidden under the dashboard above the glovebox and the power cables for the kit were all wired in and hidden behind the dash.
We also obtained a Qubit PDA mute lead to make the PDA mute the stereo upon receiving a direction instruction and the audio was routed through the drivers front door speaker. The Dell Axim PDA was running a Tom Tom 2 Sat Nav software package.
Result :-
Driving along with the music blaring from the radio, Sat Nav instruction from PDA mutes the stereo and channels the PDA's audio through the drivers right hand front speaker. There was some slight clipping of the instructions, instead of "Turn right" we heard "urn right" but generally the customer was very impressed by this new Qubit PDA mute unit. The customer is looking at adding a half a seconds gap in the wave file commands in the PDA to stop the clipping and we will advise if this was successful.
Added bonus was the ability to play MP3's through the drivers speaker as well, although in mono, the sound was actually quite good quality, We can also hook the Qubit PDA mute up to a Telemute lead to make it come through both front speakers but that was an extra cost that the customer did not opt for on this occasion.
