A Premium Nokia CARK-91 handsfree car phone kit with 5110 handset fitted pictured above. The cradle was mounted on a Dashmount console mounting bracket. Note the nice finish on the Nokia kit and the lack of visible cables! Apologies about the picture quality, these images were taken before we had our new digital camera.

This was a "Premium" installation of a Nokia CARK-91 car phone kit for the Nokia 5110 in a BMW 5 Series E39.

We used an Autoleads Telemute Interface lead to mute the stereo and redirect the sound through the vehicles own two front stereo speakers, there are two possible lead types on the 5 series, if you have the earlier 17 way connector you will require the 06-060B , but if your car has the newer 40 way Quadlok type connector you will require the 06-076B. Vehicles with Sat Nav will also require an extension lead as the radio control unit is mounted in the boot area - 06-207B . "PHONE" was displayed on the radio in this vehicle when a call was made or received, volume adjustment is via the handset. The cradle was mounted on a Dashmount bracket. The Dashmount bracket allows us to hide the cables really neatly and gives a good position for the handset cradle.

BMW do recommend that either a Bodymount, Bumpermount or Glassmount antenna is used on this vehicle but we have had no issues using a covert Tax disc type antenna. If in doubt, ask your local dealer if fitting such an antenna will invalidate the manufacturers warranty.

The microphone was mounted up by the centre light at the top of the windscreen area and the cable neatly routed away.

We thought we should also show you this rather unusual installation request pictured above, where the customer did not want a vent mounted Smartclip or a console mounted Dashmount bracket or a leather pod! Instead the handset cradle was secured using heavy duty double sided tape to the left hand side of the gear lever console itself at the customers request.

We try to accommodate all our customers requests (where practical). This installation was otherwise a normal "Premium" installation.
