Sio Communications was established in June of 2000 by Terry Wright after 15 years of working as a motor vehicle technician in the motor trade (Mercedes trained). It is a small family run business based in Mid Calder which is 12 miles west of Edinburgh in Scotland. As an Independent Specialist Company we can Supply, Service, Install and Repair vehicle handsfree car phone solutions for both Private and Commercial customers.
The first revision of the Website was launched in July of 2000 and all the pages were designed and updated by myself. The original aim of the Website was merely as an information portal, so that customers could find out more about what was involved and available regarding car phone kit installation and to let customers see the types of services that we could offer. Over the past six years the Website has evolved and grown to it's current size and design. All the web pages are still hand coded by myself but I will admit I had a lot of help along the way from Willie at Toucan Graphics who created the Sio Comm's company logo for us, and designed the current header and navigation system. At the beginning of 2003 we realised that we were getting more and more requests from people who could not source the products they required to carry out the installation themselves, which led to us adding a basic online shop system in October of 2003 to compliment our existing installation business. November 2003 also seen the introduction of an online Technical support forum to compliment the online shop, we now have over 2400 members and it is proving to be a valuable addition to the Sio Communications Website. When the government introduced the new legislation regarding the use of a hands free mobile phones whilst driving in December 2003, there was a dramatic increase in interest for products that we supply and for our installation service. The latest version of the online shop only went live on the 27th December 2004 and new products are still being added on a daily basis. In February 2005 international orders went live.
