When you wish to put your handsfree car phone kit through your stereo and make it mute during a call, and redirect the audio through the cars audio system, you will require an Autoleads Cellular Telemute Interface lead.
These are available from our Autoleads Cellular Telemute lead section of the online shop.
All Autoleads Cellular Telemute leads up until 2005 were made to the Nokia standard 6 pin Molex plug configuration as used in car kits like the Nokia CARK-91. Some newer leads will have the new Nokia 2002> 4 pin Molex connector, which means if you wish to install any other make of kit apart from Nokia, or an older Nokia kit such as the CARK-91, then you will also require a 06-221B adaptor.
In order to use any Early Ericsson handsfree car phone kit (those not requiring an ignition sense feature) with any Autoleads Cellular Telemute Interface lead you will require the adaptor listed above. This simply plugs into the Nokia 6 pin Molex power plug on the fly lead of the Telemute and saves you chopping any wires keeping the warranty of the lead intact.
The HCA-20 car kit from Ericsson boasts a yellow wire that can be used for muting your car stereo (provided your head unit supports this feature). In practice we have found that this wire does not provide a strong enough earth signal to mute the stereo. Using the above adaptor will ensure, that even without the main Autolead loom, you can still use the mute facility.
All Autoleads products should be Installed by a suitably qualified technician. We will not be held responsible for damage to the vehicles electrical system due to incorrect installation or misuse of the product.
