This lead does supply an ignition switched 12 volt feed. The easy way to tell a pre 2001 radio from the newer post 2001 model is that the volume control is in the centre as pictured below.

Cellular Telemute leads are used when installing an aftermarket hands free car phone kit. Once installed the lead will mute your head unit and redirect the call through the vehicles front speakers.
